David, old and near death, gathers Israel's leaders and hands his son Solomon the plans for the temple he was not allowed to build. In verse 12 the Hebrew word ruach, often "spirit" or "breath," is rendered "mind," suggesting that what David passed on came to him from God rather than from his own invention.
