The descendants of Jeconiah the captive:
1 Chronicles 3:17, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
This verse introduces the line of Jeconiah, also called Jehoiachin, a king of Judah carried to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar around 597 BC. The Chronicler, writing after the exile for a community back in the land, names him "the captive" not to shame him but to locate him precisely in the story: the royal house continued in Babylon, and God's promise to David was not cancelled by defeat.
