1 Chronicles 4:12, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

This verse sits inside the long genealogy of Judah in 1 Chronicles, a list compiled after the exile to show returning families their place among God's people. Eshton, named in the previous verse as son of Mehir, is listed as the father of three men, and Tehinnah is further identified as the father of Ir-nahash, a name meaning "city of the serpent." The closing note that these were the men of Recah ties the family to a place otherwise unknown to us.
