Explanation preview
This verse closes the first genealogy in the chapter, the line of high priests from Aaron down to Jehozadak. The Chronicler, writing after the exile for a community back in the land, traces the priestly family through Zadok and names Jehozadak as the priest carried away when the LORD sent Judah and Jerusalem into exile by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the Babylonian king who took Jerusalem in 586 BC.
