1 Corinthians 11:30 meaning and explanation
That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep.
1 Corinthians 11:30, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Paul is writing to the Corinthian church about their disorderly gatherings for the Lord's Supper, where some ate and drank without regard for others or for the meaning of the bread and cup. In verse 30 he says that because of this, many among them were weak and sick, and some had died, which is the sense of "fallen asleep." Paul understands this as the Lord's discipline, not condemnation, since verse 32 says such discipline keeps them from being condemned with the world.
