1 Corinthians 15:40 meaning and explanation

There are also heavenly bodies and earthly bodies. But the splendor of the heavenly bodies is of one degree, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is of another.

1 Corinthians 15:40, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Paul is answering the Corinthians, who doubted that the dead could be raised and asked what kind of body they would have. He uses the created order as an analogy: just as the sun, moon and stars differ in brightness, and earthly creatures differ in kind, so the resurrection body will differ from the present one.
