1 Corinthians 7:13 meaning and explanation

And if a woman has an unbelieving husband and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.

1 Corinthians 7:13, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Paul is answering questions the Corinthian church had sent him about marriage, and here he addresses believers whose spouses were not Christians, a common situation in a city where the gospel had recently taken root. Having told a believing husband not to divorce an unbelieving wife, he gives the matching instruction to wives: if the husband is willing to stay, she must not initiate a divorce.
