1 John 2:23 meaning and explanation

Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father, but whoever confesses the Son has the Father as well.

1 John 2:23, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

John is writing to a congregation troubled by teachers who had left the church and denied that Jesus is the Christ (verses 19 and 22). In this verse he draws the line sharply: the Father and the Son cannot be separated, so rejecting Jesus means not having the Father either, while openly confessing Jesus means possessing both.
