1 Kings 11:9 meaning and explanation

Now the LORD grew angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned away from the LORD, the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice.

1 Kings 11:9, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The narrator pauses the story to name what has happened: the LORD is angry with Solomon because his heart has turned from the God of Israel. This comes after verses 1 to 8, where Solomon's many foreign wives led him to build high places for Chemosh, Molech and Ashtoreth.
