1 Kings 15:34 meaning and explanation
And Baasha did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
1 Kings 15:34, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Baasha has just seized Israel's throne by assassinating Nadab, yet the narrator judges him by the same standard used for every northern king. To walk in Jeroboam's way means continuing the state religion Jeroboam established at Dan and Bethel, with its golden calves and its non-Levitical priesthood, so that Israel would not return to worship at Jerusalem.
