1 Kings 7:31 meaning and explanation
The opening to each stand inside the crown at the top was one cubit deep, with a round opening like the design of a pedestal, a cubit and a half wide. And around its opening were engravings, but the panels of the stands were square, not round.
1 Kings 7:31, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The narrator is describing the ten bronze water stands Huram of Tyre cast for Solomon's temple, and verse 31 details the opening at the top of each stand where a basin sat. The Hebrew text here is difficult, and the exact shape of the crown, the round opening and the square panels is debated among translators.
