1 Samuel 14:11 meaning and explanation

So the two of them showed themselves to the outpost of the Philistines, who exclaimed, “Look, the Hebrews are coming out of the holes in which they were hiding!”

1 Samuel 14:11, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Jonathan and his armor-bearer have climbed down into the pass between the cliffs Bozez and Seneh, acting on Jonathan's conviction that the LORD can save by few as well as by many. When they show themselves, the Philistine outpost jeers that the Hebrews are crawling out of the holes where they had hidden, a taunt that recalls Israel's earlier panic and flight.
