1 Samuel 2:15 meaning and explanation

Even before the fat was burned, the servant of the priest would come and say to the man who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast, because he will not accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”

1 Samuel 2:15, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Hannah's prayer opens this chapter, but verse 15 belongs to the account of Eli's sons Hophni and Phinehas, priests at Shiloh. Under the law, the fat of a sacrifice belonged to the LORD and was burned first, and the priests received specified portions only after that.
