Abigail has just been widowed: her husband Nabal died after the LORD struck him, and David, who had been restrained from bloodshed by her plea, now asks her to marry him. Her quick obedience, rising and bowing before the messengers, echoes her earlier humility and mirrors the servant language of verse 41.
