1 Samuel 3:18 meaning and explanation

So Samuel told him everything and did not hide a thing from him. “He is the LORD,” replied Eli. “Let Him do what is good in His eyes.”

1 Samuel 3:18, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Eli has just pressed the boy Samuel to hide nothing of the night vision, and Samuel, though afraid, tells him everything, including the judgment on Eli's household for the sins of his sons. Eli's reply is surrender, not defiance: he names God as LORD and accepts whatever God decides as good.
