2 Chronicles 21:10 meaning and explanation

So to this day Edom has been in rebellion against the hand of Judah. Likewise, Libnah rebelled against his rule at the same time, because Jehoram had forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.

2 Chronicles 21:10, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

The Chronicler is narrating the reign of Jehoram, king of Judah, who abandoned the ways of his father Jehoshaphat and followed the house of Ahab through his marriage to Ahab's daughter. In this verse the writer notes two consequences of that unfaithfulness: Edom, long subject to Judah, threw off its rule, and Libnah, a Levitical town in the lowlands, rebelled at the same time.
