2 Chronicles 25:6, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Amaziah, king of Judah, has just mustered his own army and now hires mercenaries from the northern kingdom of Israel, called Ephraim here, paying a hundred talents of silver. The Chronicler presents this as a practical but spiritually dangerous move, since the northern kingdom had abandoned the LORD's temple and its kings had led Israel into idolatry.
