2 Chronicles 27:3, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The Chronicler is describing King Jotham of Judah, who reigned in the eighth century BC and is remembered for doing right before the LORD. The Upper Gate belonged to the temple complex, and the Ophel was the ridge just south of the temple area, so this verse records real building work that strengthened Jerusalem's defenses and its place of worship.
