Paul is writing to the church in Corinth about the collection for poor believers in Jerusalem, and in verses 6 to 15 he answers concerns about giving. Here he tells them that God's enrichment has a purpose beyond their own comfort: it equips them to be generous, and their generosity, delivered through Paul and his coworkers, becomes a cause of thanksgiving to God.
