Then King Ahaziah sent to Elijah a captain with his company of fifty men. So the captain went up to Elijah, who was sitting on top of a hill, and said to him, “Man of God, the king declares, ‘Come down!’”

After Ahaziah's injury, Elijah had intercepted the king's messengers with a word from the LORD: because Ahaziah inquired of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, rather than the God of Israel, he would not recover. The king now sends a captain with fifty soldiers to bring the prophet down.
