2 Kings 14:29, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

This closing notice belongs to the account of Jeroboam II, king of Israel, who reigned forty-one years in Samaria and did evil in the LORD's sight, yet was used by God to save a bitterly afflicted people (verses 23 to 27). "Rested with his fathers" is the standard formula for a king's death and burial, here among the kings of Israel, and it marks the end of a long, militarily successful reign.
