2 Kings 19:29 meaning and explanation
And this will be a sign to you, O Hezekiah: This year you will eat what grows on its own, and in the second year what springs from the same. But in the third year you will sow and reap; you will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
2 Kings 19:29, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
These words come through the prophet Isaiah to King Hezekiah, who has just prayed in the temple about the Assyrian threat against Jerusalem. The sign is a promise about ordinary food: for two years the people will eat from crops that spring up on their own, since the Assyrian army has kept them from farming, and only in the third year will normal sowing and harvesting resume.
