2 Kings 22:19 meaning and explanation
because your heart was tender and you humbled yourself before the LORD when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its people, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and because you have torn your clothes and wept before Me, I have heard you,’ declares the LORD.
2 Kings 22:19, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
These words come through the prophetess Huldah to King Josiah, who had torn his clothes in grief when the Book of the Law was read to him and he realized how far Judah had drifted from God. God names what He saw in the king: a tender heart, literally a soft or yielding heart, that humbled itself rather than hardening against the warning.
