2 Kings 23:6 meaning and explanation

2 Kings 23:6, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

King Josiah is acting on the Book of the Covenant found in the temple, and verse 6 records his removal of the Asherah pole, a wooden object linked to the worship of the goddess Asherah, from the LORD's house. The Kidron Valley lay just outside Jerusalem, and burning, grinding and scattering the dust on graves treated the pole as utterly defiled, beyond any reuse.
