Although the priests of the high places did not come up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, they ate unleavened bread with their fellow priests.
2 Kings 23:9, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Josiah has just removed the idolatrous priests from the towns of Judah and desecrated the high places where they had burned incense. This verse notes a limit on that purge: these priests of the high places were not allowed to serve at the Lord's altar in Jerusalem, yet they were not killed.
