2 Kings 8:23 meaning and explanation

As for the rest of the acts of Jehoram, along with all his accomplishments, are they not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

2 Kings 8:23, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

This verse is the closing formula for the reign of Jehoram king of Judah, a standard line used throughout Kings to point readers to the royal annals. The narrator has just told how Edom and Libnah broke free from Judah during Jehoram's rule, and rather than list every deed, he refers to a separate court record, the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah, which no longer survives.
