2 Samuel 14:20 meaning and explanation
Joab your servant has done this to bring about this change of affairs, but my lord has wisdom like the wisdom of the angel of God, to know everything that happens in the land.”
2 Samuel 14:20, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The woman from Tekoa has just admitted that Joab, David's army commander, staged her story to move the king. Her words are flattery as much as confession: she credits Joab with arranging "this change of affairs," meaning the shift in David's stance toward Absalom, and praises David's wisdom as like "the angel of God," an idiom for exceptional discernment.
