2 Samuel 4:11 meaning and explanation
How much more, when wicked men kill a righteous man in his own house and on his own bed, shall I not now require his blood from your hands and remove you from the earth!”
2 Samuel 4:11, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
David is speaking to Rechab and Baanah, two Benjaminite raiders who murdered Ish-bosheth, Saul's surviving son, as he napped in his own house, then brought his head to David expecting a reward. David calls the victim a righteous man, meaning innocent of any crime against them, and stresses the treachery of killing someone in his own house and on his own bed.
