Acts 10:1, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Luke introduces Cornelius, a Gentile officer stationed at Caesarea, the Roman administrative center on the Judean coast. A centurion commanded roughly a hundred soldiers; the Italian Regiment was a unit of Roman citizens, so Cornelius was a man of real standing in the occupying force.
