Barnabas has been sent by the Jerusalem church to Antioch, where Greek-speaking believers have come to faith (verses 22 to 24). The work has grown beyond what one man can oversee, so he travels to Tarsus, Saul's home region, to find the man the Jerusalem believers had earlier sent away for safety.
