Acts 18:15 meaning and explanation
But since it is a dispute about words and names and your own law, settle it yourselves. I refuse to be a judge of such things.”
Acts 18:15, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Gallio, the Roman proconsul of Achaia, is answering the Jewish leaders who brought Paul before his judgment seat, accusing him of teaching worship contrary to the law. Gallio sees the charge as an internal Jewish quarrel over words, names and their own law, not a matter of Roman civil wrongdoing, so he declines jurisdiction and dismisses the case.
