Acts 19:39, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The city clerk of Ephesus is speaking to a crowd that has gathered in the theatre during a riot stirred up by silversmiths who feared losing business because of Paul's preaching. Having told them that any private complaint belongs in the courts, he now addresses anything beyond that: it must go before the lawful assembly, the regular civic body authorized to decide public matters.
