Five days later the high priest Ananias came down with some elders and a lawyer named Tertullus, who presented to the governor their case against Paul.
Acts 24:1, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Five days after Paul's arrest in Jerusalem, the high priest Ananias travels to Caesarea with elders and a hired speaker, Tertullus, to press charges before the Roman governor Felix. The high priest's presence shows how seriously the leadership took the case, and Tertullus, trained in Greek rhetoric, was likely hired to present it persuasively in a Roman court.
