Acts 27:7 meaning and explanation
After sailing slowly for many days, we arrived off Cnidus. When the wind impeded us, we sailed to the lee of Crete, opposite Salmone.
Acts 27:7, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Luke, writing as an eyewitness in the “we” of this voyage, describes the slow progress of the ship carrying Paul toward Rome. The prevailing winds made headway so difficult that the vessel took many days to reach Cnidus, on the southwest coast of Asia Minor, and then had to run for shelter under the lee of Crete near Cape Salmone.
