Acts 6:5, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The apostles had asked the gathered disciples to choose seven men to oversee the daily distribution of food so the Twelve could devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the word. The whole group was pleased, and the names chosen are telling: all seven are Greek, suggesting the congregation deliberately honored the Grecian Jews whose widows had been overlooked.
