Acts 8:28, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
The Ethiopian official is traveling home from worship in Jerusalem, seated in a chariot and reading aloud from the scroll of Isaiah, as was customary in the ancient world. Luke has already told us he serves Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, as treasurer, so this is a powerful foreigner and a God-fearer drawn to Israel's worship.
