Amos 5:14 meaning and explanation
Seek good, not evil, so that you may live. And the LORD, the God of Hosts, will be with you, as you have claimed.
Amos 5:14, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Amos is speaking to the prosperous but unjust northern kingdom of Israel in the eighth century BC, and in verse 14 he turns his earlier command to "seek Me and live" into something concrete: seek good, not evil. The people assumed God was with them because of their worship and their status as His covenant people.
