Amos 8:10 meaning and explanation
I will turn your feasts into mourning and all your songs into lamentation. I will cause everyone to wear sackcloth and every head to be shaved. I will make it like a time of mourning for an only son, and its outcome like a bitter day.
Amos 8:10, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God speaks through Amos to prosperous Israelites who long for religious festivals to end so they can resume cheating the poor. Their outward piety hides greed, so God announces that their feasts will become mourning and their songs lamentation.
