Daniel 1:5 meaning and explanation
The king assigned them daily provisions of the royal food and wine. They were to be trained for three years, after which they were to enter the king’s service.

Nebuchadnezzar has taken Jerusalem and chosen promising young men from Judah's royal and noble families to serve in his palace. In verse 5 he provides for them from his own table and sets a three year training period in Babylonian language and literature.
