Daniel 2:35 meaning and explanation

Then the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold were shattered and became like chaff on the threshing floor in summer. The wind carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that had struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

Daniel 2:35, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Daniel is interpreting Nebuchadnezzar's dream of a statue of four metals, which the chapter explains as a succession of kingdoms beginning with Babylon. In verse 35 the entire statue, from gold head to iron and clay feet, is crushed by a stone cut without human hands and blown away like chaff on a summer threshing floor, where the wind carries off the light husks.
