Gabriel has just explained the vision to Daniel: the two-horned ram is Media and Persia, the goat is Greece, and the little horn is a later insolent king who exalts himself against the Prince of princes and is finally broken without human hand. Here the angel closes the interpretation by affirming that the vision of the evenings and mornings, the 2,300 days of verse 14, is true and certain.
