Deuteronomy 12:22 meaning and explanation

Indeed, you may eat it as you would eat a gazelle or deer; both the ceremonially unclean and the clean may eat it.

Deuteronomy 12:22, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Moses is speaking to Israel on the plains of Moab, before they cross the Jordan. Chapter 12 centralizes worship at the place God will choose, but it also allows ordinary meat to be slaughtered and eaten anywhere, since the tabernacle will not always be near.
