Deuteronomy 2:37 meaning and explanation
But you did not go near the land of the Ammonites, or the land along the banks of the Jabbok River, or the cities of the hill country, or any place that the LORD our God had forbidden.
Deuteronomy 2:37, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
Moses is speaking to the Israelites on the plains of Moab, retelling how they came through the wilderness and defeated Sihon. This closing verse draws a boundary line: Israel took Sihon's cities but stopped short of Ammonite land, the Jabbok River and the hill country, because the LORD had given that territory to the descendants of Lot (verses 19 and 37).
