Deuteronomy 33:8, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Moses, nearing death, blesses each tribe, and here he speaks of Levi, the priestly tribe. The Urim and Thummim were sacred lots kept by the high priest and used to seek God's decision (see Exodus 28:30); the Hebrew words are usually understood as "lights" and "perfections." Moses recalls Massah and Meribah, where Israel tested God and the Levites proved faithful (Exodus 17; Numbers 20).
