Exodus 16:8 meaning and explanation

And Moses added, “The LORD will give you meat to eat this evening and bread to fill you in the morning, for He has heard your grumbling against Him. Who are we? Your grumblings are not against us but against the LORD.”

Exodus 16:8, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Moses is speaking to the Israelites in the Desert of Sin, where they have just grumbled that they will starve after leaving Egypt. Moses and Aaron are the visible targets of the complaint, but Moses redirects it: the grumbling is ultimately against the LORD, who brought them out and has heard them.
