Exodus 17:12 meaning and explanation
When Moses’ hands grew heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one on each side, so that his hands remained steady until the sun went down.

Israel is fighting Amalek at Rephidim, and Moses watches from the hilltop with the staff of God in his hand. Verses 10 and 11 show that while his hands stayed raised, Israel prevailed, and when he lowered them, Amalek gained ground.
