He arranged the bread on it before the LORD, just as the LORD had commanded him.

Moses is setting up the tabernacle on the first day of the first month of the second year after the exodus, and he has just placed the table inside the Tent of Meeting on its north side, outside the veil. The bread he arranges there is the showbread, literally the bread of the Presence, set out in rows before the LORD.
