Exodus 9:16 meaning and explanation
But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display My power to you, and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
Exodus 9:16, Berean Standard Bible
Explanation preview
God speaks these words to Pharaoh through Moses, in the middle of the plagues on Egypt. The Hebrew verb translated "raised you up" can mean to cause someone to stand or to remain in place, and here it means God has kept Pharaoh alive and in power rather than cutting him off.
