Exodus 9:7 meaning and explanation

Pharaoh sent officials and found that none of the livestock of the Israelites had died. But Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he would not let the people go.

Exodus 9:7, Berean Standard Bible

Explanation preview

Pharaoh is the speaker's audience here, but the verse is narrated: after the fifth plague killed Egyptian livestock, Pharaoh sent officials to check Goshen and confirmed that not one Israelite animal had died. The LORD had announced this distinction in advance (verses 4 and 5), so the report was evidence, not rumor.
