Ezekiel is in exile in Babylon, but the Spirit has carried him in vision to the east gate of the Jerusalem temple, where twenty-five leaders are gathered. God has just told him these men plot evil and give wicked counsel, reassuring themselves that the city is a safe cooking pot and they are the meat inside it.
